The Carpeaux quartier is one of Montmartre's and indeed Paris' authentic neighborhoods. It is within easy access of the tourist spots yet retaining the authenticity of a real living, working quartier. "Easy to slip in, slow down and live like a local."

To take advantage of all that Paris has to offer, visit Paris not as a tourist, but as a pilgrim - seeking the wonders, the sights, the experiences, and the moods of the City of Lights surrenders only to true seekers. The French understand that art, culture, music, architecture, and beauty are part of life. These things are found in abundance in Paris.

The delights of our neighbourhood

Sitting by the Gazebo in the lush green park at Square Carpeaux. The square is a pleasant splash of green in the 18th arrondissement.   There is a playground for the neighborhood's children, lots of benches under beautiful shady chestnut trees, and even a fin-de-siècle gazebo.

Morning coffee at one of the ubiquitous neighbourhood cafés. Discover the stairways or escaliers of Montmartre that lead to the top of the Butte.

Inhaling the mouthwatering aromas of just made baked goods from one of the the quarters bakers and bread shops, including the award winning Delmontel boulangerie on nearby rue Damrémont and the Coquelicot boulangerie on rue des Abesses.

Shopping for groceries on the nearby market streets, including the well known cheese shop Fromagerie de Montmartre on rue du Poteau. Try the spicy Gaperon, a firm Salers or a creamy Saint Marcellin.

Catching the Métro at nearby Lamarck-Caulaincourt. Metro stations Jules Joffrin and Guy Moquet stations are also within easy walking distance, with access to 3 different metro lines.

Step out of the door and discover the historic neighbourhood of Montmartre with its village atmosphere, hidden gardens, secret passages, cobblestone streets that wind to the top of the hill.

Sacre Coeur - the white marble Catholic basilica dedicated to the sacred heart of Jesus, located at the summit of La Butte de Montmartre. This is the highest point in Paris.

Place Bateau Lavoir - where Picasso, Modigliani and others kept studios and was the meeting place for Apollinaire, Bracque, Matisse, Cocteau and others.

Vineyard of Montmartre - the only active vineyard in Paris' city limits is to be found within 500 metres from the apartment; wine lovers recognize that it does not produce a grand vin but has a unique and symbolic character

Cemetery of Montmartre - the final resting place for Hector Berlioz, Alexandre Dumas, Francois Truffaut, Emile Zola, Jean Foucault, Dalida, La Goulue among many others.

Place du Tertre - a square where artists set up their easels and do portraits for tourists; a bit touristy perhaps, but in fact, Place du Tertre is a reminder of the time when Montmartre was a mecca for modern art.

Place des Abesses - a unique square surrounded by shops, restaurants and cafés. Just around the corner is Le Café des Deux Moulins featured in the movie Amelie.
